Print article The ADN editorial board used some poor logic when it compared the recall efforts directed to Gov. Mike Dunleavy and Assembly Chair Felix Rivera. The cases are anything but similar. The ADN board took the position that the “delayed appointment of a Palmer judge … “was no big deal. This was a deliberate act that was just part of a larger goal which is to eventually overturn Alaska’s method of selecting judges and to make that process more political. “Partisan mailers purchased with state funds …” is likewise more serious than the ADN board would have us believe. If any administration is allowed to do that with impunity, what else might it try to get by with on a bigger scale? Why is this ever right? Why ignore this?

The horror of the bathroom scales If you ve ever stepped on the bathroom scales, then managed to glimpse their evil numbers, her s what to do next:
Step one: Pick up the scales and wrap them in a towel. The horrendous numbers you saw on the scale must be hidden. So, like when the kids threw Jumanji in the river, wrap the numbers so you can no longer see them, and more importantly, they cannot see you.
Step two: Begin a month-long hike into the darkest forest you can find. Find an area of deep forest. Germany is good. Take the most complicated path you can find. Go in circles, through rivers, underground. If possible, abseil. All these movements will disorientate the scales so they cannot find their way home.

Q: As the only person of color in my workplace, going to work has become increasingly uncomfortable since the police killed George Floyd. I’ve had to keep my mouth shut. To me, it was clear that police officer actions led to Floyd’s death. My coworkers, however, focused on Floyd’s violent history, and the time he served time in prison for aggravated robbery. Things only got worse when his death ignited worldwide protests. I tried to explain to one coworker that Floyd didn’t behave violently during his arrest and wasn’t armed. When she said, “You just keep thinking that, honey,” I knew that anything I said would fall on deaf ears.
